Crate Training

Grooming At  Home
I always tell our new families that crate training is onw of the best things you can do for your new puppy. Although they mat not enjoy it at first they live grow to like having their own space and it is a gateway into other training.  I do not recommend putting plush beds inside of their crates, as they do tend to get hot. We use blankets or crate pads so they can move them out of the way or dig in them if need be. We also tell everyone to put an old blanket over the crate at night to help calm your puppy. Another amazing crate training tool is the Snuggle Puppy! This stuff animal comes with a heating pack and sound pack the plays a heart beat sound.

With Poodles and Doodles grooming is a HUGE part of the package but its not as daunting or as overwhelming as one may think. The key to both is brushing and bathing. If you click on each brush it will take you to a link of where you can buy them. Some great shampoo to keep their hair nice and shiny is CHI for Dogs. You'll also need a good pair of dog nail clippers. Having a set of grooming clippers at home comes in handy between grooming appointments. Being able to clean up the area around their eyes will prevent eye irritation and vision impairment. Also being able to keep their potty area clean for sanitary reasons. As well as keeping the hair trimmed between the pads of their feet to prevent painful impacting.   There are many of great videos on YouTube for tips on grooming at home.

Everyday Items

We always tell our puppy buyers to have put a plush bed in the living room or wherever the family hangs out the most. This gives your new puppy his/her own space while still allowing them to be with the rest of the family. Also the more toys the merrier! As most people know puppies go through aa teething stage just like our children. Chewing is their natural response to sooth their aching gums. toys with different textures will help with their teething. I really recommend getting a Kong or a similar toy to help with crate training and teething.

I always recommend potty training bells for homes that do not have doggy doors! I find this method to be the fastest way to potty train.
